Juvenile arrested on firearm charges in Boston

BOSTON, MA — A 17-year-old was arrested and a loaded firearm was recovered following a shots fired incident in Hyde Park on Monday.

Officers assigned to District E-18 were dispatched to a report of shots fired in the area of Hyde Park Avenue and Milton Street at approximately 3:40 p.m. on June 8, 2026.

Boston Police received several 911 calls reporting that three shots had been heard at the location.

Callers also reported observing multiple juveniles running from the area and stated that a juvenile male wearing a black hoodie ran down Hyde Park Avenue.

District E-18 officers responded and were directed to a juvenile male who had run behind an auto body shop.

Officers proceeded behind the shop and observed the 17-year-old juvenile male crouched behind bushes and other vegetation in a wooded area.

Officers observed the juvenile scrambling and rummaging through the brush.

After issuing several verbal commands, officers were able to safely detain him.

Officers then observed a firearm in the brush approximately three feet from where the juvenile had been detained.

The firearm was covered in leaves and vines.

The 17-year-old juvenile from Brockton was subsequently placed into custody.

Officers and district detectives secured the firearm, which was determined to be a loaded Rock Island Armory .45-caliber handgun.

The 17-year-old juvenile male is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court on charges of carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
