BELCHERTOWN, MA — A suspect is in custody in connection with a fatal shooting on Daniel Shays Highway.
The incident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. Friday.
The suspect is scheduled to be arraigned in Eastern Hampshire District Court on Monday.
There is no ongoing threat to public safety.
The case remains under active investigation by the Belchertown Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
