Man charged with murder in Rouses Point

ROUSES POINT, NY — New York State Police have charged a man with murder following the death of a 57-year-old found unresponsive at a motel.

Police responded to the Anchorage Motel at 164 Lake Street at approximately 1:54 a.m. on March 28, 2026, for a report of an unresponsive male.

Tyrone Biggs, 57, of Rouses Point, was found deceased in his apartment.

The Clinton County Coroner responded to the scene, pronounced Biggs deceased, and authorized the removal of the body to Glens Falls Hospital.

An investigation determined that Austin Lapier, 31, of Rouses Point, killed Biggs during the evening hours of March 27, 2026.

Lapier was located and taken into custody with assistance from the Northern Regional Special Response Team.

He was transported to State Police Champlain for questioning.

Police charged Lapier with murder in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.

Lapier was arraigned in the Town of Mooers and remanded to the Clinton County Jail without bail.

An autopsy is scheduled for March 29, 2026, at 9 a.m. at Glens Falls Hospital to determine the official cause and manner of death.
