HIGHTSTOWN, NJ — Hightstown High School was placed under a temporary shelter in place Friday morning after police received a threat of a school shooting.
The Hightstown Police Department was alerted to the threat at approximately 8:15 a.m. on March 27.
Officers from the Hightstown Police Department, assisted by the East Windsor Police Department and school personnel, conducted a walkthrough of the school building.
Drones from the Robbinsville Police Department and Trenton Police Department were used to survey exterior grounds and adjacent areas.
The school was determined to be safe and the incident was deemed a swatting incident.
School personnel lifted the shelter in place and normal school functions and activities resumed.
