Three arrested in stolen vehicle case in Brighton

BRIGHTON, NY — Three individuals were arrested after a license plate reader alert led deputies to a stolen vehicle parked outside a business on Penfield Road.

A Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputy received the alert at approximately 12:13 p.m. on March 22 for a vehicle in the area of eastbound Penfield Road and Chiswell Way.

The vehicle had been reported stolen from the City of Rochester on March 21.

The deputy located the vehicle parked and occupied in front of a business on Penfield Road.

Two individuals were inside the vehicle when deputies arrived: Evan Crittenden and Matthew Solomon.

Crittenden initially refused lawful orders before being taken into custody without injury.

Deputies found a quantity of suspected crack cocaine in his possession.

Solomon was taken into custody without incident.

The driver had left the area on foot before deputies arrived.

Deputies developed a description of the individual and sent it to other responding deputies.

A deputy observed a male matching the description walking through a nearby parking lot moments later.

Deputies took the individual into custody after a brief foot pursuit and identified him as Ryan Goetze.

EMS was requested to the scene for Crittenden and Goetze, but both refused treatment.

Ryan M. Goetze, 30, of Sweden, is charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree, obstruction of governmental administration and resisting arrest.

Goetze is a predicate felon and repeat offender who is currently a parole absconder.

Evan J. Crittenden, 36, of Rochester, is charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree, obstruction of governmental administration, resisting arrest and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.

Crittenden is a predicate felon and repeat offender who is wanted by the Rochester Police Department on a warrant.

Matthew Solomon, 48, of Rochester, is charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree.

Solomon is wanted by the Rochester Police Department on a warrant.

Following processing, deputies transported all three to Monroe County CAP court for arraignment.

Goetze and Crittenden are being held without bail due to their predicate felon status.

Solomon was released on his own recognizance on March 22.
