ROME, NY — A man was arrested after allegedly threatening police officers with a baseball bat on West Dominick Street.
Officers from the Rome Police Department were patrolling the 100 block of West Dominick Street at approximately 11:35 p.m. Wednesday when they observed a male holding a baseball bat near WellNow.
Officers exited their patrol vehicle and attempted to engage the individual.
The male became irate, began waving the baseball bat in the air, and advanced toward the officers while making threatening gestures, according to police.
The individual then fled on foot.
Following a brief foot pursuit, officers took him into custody without further incident.
The male was identified as Erik T. Hastings.
He has been charged with menacing a police officer and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.
He was processed at Rome Police Headquarters and transported to the Oneida County Jail, where he is awaiting arraignment.
