Man arrested after pursuit in Bedford

BEDFORD, NY — New York State Police arrested a Bronx man following a vehicle pursuit that ended when his car struck an FBI vehicle.

At approximately 9:03 a.m. on March 25, 2026, troopers assigned to the Somers barracks attempted to stop a vehicle traveling southbound on Interstate 684 in the Town of Bedford for operating with switched license plates, which had been broadcasted by Westchester Real Time Crime prior to the stop.

The vehicle, a 2020 Acura, failed to comply and a pursuit was initiated.

The vehicle exited Interstate 684 at Exit 3 onto Route 22 in the Town of New Castle.

While attempting to flee, the Acura struck a Federal Bureau of Investigation vehicle before coming to a stop.

The operator, Jeremy Lal, 27, of Bronx, and a front-seat passenger were taken into custody at the scene.

Following an investigation, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Somers arrested Lal and charged him with criminal mischief 2nd, a class D felony; unlawful fleeing of a police officer 3rd, a class A misdemeanor; obstructing governmental administration 2nd, a class A misdemeanor; reckless endangerment 2nd, a class A misdemeanor; and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.

The front-seat passenger was subsequently released during the investigation.

No injuries were reported.

Lal was arraigned in the Town of Bedford Court and released on his own recognizance.

He is scheduled to return to court on April 8, 2026, at 3:30 p.m.
