Man, 2 juveniles arrested in robbery in Spring Valley

SPRING VALLEY, NY — Three suspects were arrested after a man was robbed at scissor-point in a vehicle on March 19.

The Spring Valley Police Department responded to 120 South Main Street at approximately 6:39 p.m. for a reported incident.

Officers detained two juvenile suspects and one adult male at the scene.

The investigation revealed that the victim had entered the suspects’ vehicle, where a pair of scissors was held to his throat.

The suspects forcibly removed the victim’s cellphone and approximately $10 in cash.

They also used the victim’s phone to transfer $6 through a mobile payment application.

The victim was later released after convincing the suspects he could retrieve additional money from his residence, at which point he contacted police.

Dennis Osei, 19, of New City, along with two 17-year-old juveniles, one from West Haverstraw and one from the Bronx, were arrested.

The juveniles’ identities are being withheld due to their age.

Osei was charged with robbery in the first degree, robbery in the second degree, menacing in the second degree, criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.

He was arraigned in the Village of Spring Valley Justice Court and remanded to the Rockland County Jail on bail of $10,000 cash, $25,000 bond, or $35,000 partially secured bond.

Both juveniles were charged with robbery in the first and second degrees and were arraigned in Rockland County Youth Part, where they were released on their own recognizance.
