Woman wanted on theft charge in Phillipsburg

PHILLIPSBURG, NJ — Police are seeking a woman accused of defrauding a victim out of $3,000 in a scheme involving false promises of federal funds.

Fay Ann Anderson, 54, of an unknown address, is wanted on a charge of theft by deception, according to the Phillipsburg Police Department.

Police allege that on July 28, 2022, Anderson obtained $3,000 from a victim after falsely claiming the victim would receive $20,000 in federal funds in exchange for paying a processing fee.

The victim paid the fee but never received the promised funds, police said.

Anderson is also known by the aliases Fay Ann Metz, Fay Ann Faith, Fay Ann Johnson, Fay Ann Wood and Fay Ann Hildman, according to police.

She is described as 4 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 135 pounds, with blonde hair and hazel eyes.

Anderson’s current whereabouts are unknown, though she may be in the Muskegon County area of Michigan, police said.
