Two arrested on drug, weapons charges in North Adams

NORTH ADAMS, MA — Two people were arrested following a traffic stop Sunday evening that led to the discovery of a loaded firearm and suspected narcotics.

A North Adams police officer conducted a motor vehicle stop for a traffic violation on March 22.

During the stop, probable cause was developed to search the vehicle, according to Detective Sergeant Zustra.

Officers located an illegally possessed loaded firearm between the driver’s seat and center console.

The firearm contained a large capacity magazine loaded with 17 rounds of ammunition.

Officers also found approximately 239 bags of suspected heroin and fentanyl.

Jason Simpson, of Springfield, Massachusetts, was charged with possession of firearm without a license to carry, possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a large capacity feeding device, possession of ammunition without a firearms identification card, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony, improper storage of a large capacity firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, possession with intent to distribute a Class A substance and failure to stop at a stop sign or red light.

Quanaisha Naccaratto, of North Adams, was charged with possession with intent to distribute a Class A substance.
