WESTPORT, MA — A 56-year-old man faces multiple firearms and drug trafficking charges after police responded to a report of an armed individual in a backyard early Sunday morning.

Officers from the Westport Police Department were dispatched to 583 American Legion Highway at approximately 12:53 a.m. on March 1, 2026, following a report of a male walking in a backyard with a shotgun.

Upon arrival, officers identified Albert Cambra, of Westport, in the rear of the residence.

He was unarmed at the time and was detained while officers investigated.

Cambra told officers he had been outside checking his property with a 12-gauge shotgun.

Officers observed a 12-gauge Mossberg shotgun inside the kitchen through a rear window.

Cambra granted officers consent to enter the residence to secure the firearm.

While inside, officers also observed ammunition of a different caliber on the kitchen table.

Westport detectives responded and obtained a search warrant for the residence.

During execution of that warrant, detectives located additional ammunition and drug paraphernalia, along with approximately 179 grams of suspected fentanyl in the living room.

Detectives obtained a second search warrant to continue the investigation.

Cambra was charged with possession of a large capacity firearm, possession of a shotgun without an FID card or license to carry, possession of a firearm without an FID card (subsequent offense), possession of a large capacity feeding device, trafficking fentanyl (100 grams or more, less than 200 grams), possession of a Class E substance and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
