Man arrested on burglary charge in Cape May

CAPE MAY, NJ — A Pleasantville man has been arrested in connection with a commercial burglary that occurred earlier this month.

Vito Anderson, 40, of Pleasantville, was charged following an investigation that began on March 5, 2026, according to Cape May Police Chief Dekon Fashaw.

Police said Anderson entered a business in the 400 block of Washington Street through a locked back door.

The suspect used tools to enter the building and destroy a cash register drawer to obtain money inside, police said.

Video surveillance was obtained showing the suspect entering the establishment, according to police.

Cape May Police detectives identified Anderson as a suspect after an investigation involving multiple jurisdictions including Brigantine Police Department, Long Beach Township Police Department, Pleasantville Police Department and Northfield Police Department, which were investigating Anderson for similar burglaries in their respective towns.

Video surveillance showed Anderson wearing the same clothing, including unique sneakers, a “Shystie” face covering and gloves to conceal his identity, which Anderson was still in possession of at the time of arrest, police said.

Anderson was charged with burglary, criminal mischief, theft and possession of burglary tools.
