Head-on collision injures 3 in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Three people were injured in a head-on collision at the intersection of South Main Street and Highland Avenue on March 23, 2026.

Middletown officers responded to the crash at approximately 12:27 p.m.

A red Dodge Dakota pickup and a black Honda CRV SUV collided in the intersection.

The female passenger in the Dodge sustained serious head and neck injuries requiring immediate lifesaving treatment by South District Fire Personnel.

She was transported to Hartford Hospital and remains in critical condition.

Both drivers sustained minor injuries and were transported to Middlesex Hospital for treatment.

The preliminary investigation showed the Dodge was traveling southbound on South Main Street and the Honda CRV was traveling northbound.

The operator of the Honda turned left into the path of the Dodge and both vehicles collided head-on in the intersection.

The road was closed temporarily but has since been reopened.

The occupants are not being identified at this time.

The collision is being investigated by the Middletown Police Department’s Traffic Division.
