Vehicle crashes into trees on Interstate 89 in Williston

WILLISTON, VT — Vermont State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that left a driver with life-threatening injuries Monday afternoon.

The crash occurred at 4:45 p.m. on Interstate 89 northbound near mile marker 83.1.

Travis McGurran, 49, of Middlesex, was driving a 2002 Toyota Tundra when the vehicle left the roadway and struck multiple trees in the median.

Troopers arrived to find McGurran unconscious and trapped inside the smoking vehicle.

Williston Fire Department and EMS personnel worked to extricate McGurran from the wreckage.

He was transported to UVM Medical Center with serious, life-threatening injuries.

The northbound lanes of Interstate 89 near Exit 12 were reduced to one lane for approximately two hours.

Roads were wet and weather was cloudy at the time of the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
