CHARLTON, NY — A tow truck driver faces multiple charges after allegedly ramming a vehicle on state Route 67 on Saturday night.
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle crash at 10:23 p.m. on Route 67.
Investigation revealed that a 2019 Subaru Impreza had been traveling west on Route 67 when it lawfully passed a 2016 Dodge Ram flatbed tow truck operated by Joshua J. Reome, 43, of Charlton.
Shortly thereafter, the tow truck reportedly passed the Subaru.
Upon arrival at the traffic light at the intersection of Routes 67 and 147, Reome allegedly exited his tow truck while still in traffic and charged the Subaru behind him in an aggressive manner.
The driver of the Subaru accelerated suddenly and rapidly to escape the situation and struck Reome in the process.
The Subaru continued west on Route 67, and the tow truck subsequently passed it again.
The tow truck then abruptly and forcefully backed into the Subaru causing it to spin around then left the scene.
Reome was charged with reckless endangerment in the 1st degree and criminal mischief in the 2nd degree.
He is accused of recklessly engaging in conduct that created a grave risk of death to another person under circumstances evincing a depraved indifference to human life and intentionally damaging property of another person in an amount exceeding $1,500.
Additionally, he was charged with endangering the welfare of a child as a minor was reportedly a passenger in the tow truck during the incident.
Reome was arraigned before the Honorable Timothy M. Brown in the Milton Town Court and released to pretrial services pending further proceedings in the Charlton Town Court.
There were no injuries reported and no other occupants in either the Subaru or tow truck.
