Man arrested on drug charge in Paris

PARIS, NY — A West Winfield man was arrested on a drug charge following a traffic stop on State Route 8.

Brandon Barletta, 33, of West Winfield, was stopped by a patrol deputy assigned to the Waterville Field Office around 1:38 p.m. March 23, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol.

During the investigation, a Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit with K-9 “Mastro” was dispatched to the scene.

The K-9 discovered a quantity of methamphetamine in Barletta’s possession, Maciol said.

Barletta was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.

He was transported to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building where he was processed and issued an appearance ticket for the charge.

Barletta was also issued multiple uniform traffic tickets related to the stop.

He is scheduled to appear in Paris Town Court at a later date.

The Sheriff’s Office Narcotics unit and the New York State Police assisted on scene.
