Man arrested on burglary charge in New Hartford

NEW HARTFORD, NY — A Utica man was arrested on burglary and larceny charges stemming from a February incident at a local Walmart.

Nathaniel Walker, 52, of Utica, was taken into custody on March 23, 2026, by the United States Marshals Service – NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force.

New Hartford Police responded to Walmart on Commercial Drive on Feb. 21, 2026, for a report of a male suspect who had fled the store with more than $500 worth of stolen merchandise.

Police investigators identified Walker as the suspect.

During the investigation, police determined Walker had been previously banned from entering the store due to a prior incident.

An arrest warrant was issued for Walker on charges of third-degree burglary, a felony, and petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

The fugitive task force, which includes members of the United States Marshals Service, New Hartford Police, Utica Police, Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Oneida County Probation Department, New York State Police and New York State Parole, located and arrested Walker.

Walker was transported to the Oneida County Jail and held in pre-arraignment detention pending arraignment.
