DUDLEY, MA — Police used a Taser to subdue a man wearing only underwear who was breaking items and acting aggressively early Thursday morning.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Office Hill Road and Chase Avenue at approximately 12:38 a.m. for a report of an out-of-control male breaking items outside.
Upon arrival, officers located a male wearing only his underwear who appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance.
Officers attempted to make contact with the individual; however, he became aggressive and combative.
Officers made multiple attempts to de-escalate the situation, but ultimately had to deploy a Taser in order to gain control of the individual.
Officers from Webster Police responded to assist.
After a brief struggle, officers were able to place the individual in handcuffs and transport him to the hospital for evaluation.
The investigation remains ongoing, and criminal charges are likely to follow.
In a separate incident at approximately 12:55 a.m., officers were dispatched to a three-vehicle crash in the area of 371 Dudley-Oxford Road.
Oxford Police and the Massachusetts State Police responded to assist Dudley officers.
Upon arrival, officers observed one vehicle on its side in the roadway and two additional vehicles with heavy damage.
Following an on-scene investigation, officers determined that the operator, a 37-year-old woman from Worcester who caused the crash, appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
The operator was transported to the hospital and will be summoned to court for various criminal charges.
