CORNWALL, VT — A two-vehicle crash on Vermont Route 74 sent one person to the hospital with life-threatening injuries on March 20, 2026.
Troopers responded to the crash near the intersection with Vermont Route 30 at approximately 3:51 p.m.
Investigation revealed Emily C. McNamara, 41, of Cornwall, was traveling east on Vermont Route 74 in a 2022 Toyota 4Runner when she lost control of her vehicle.
McNamara’s vehicle entered the westbound lane of travel before colliding with a westbound 2025 Kenworth construction truck pulling a 2014 Brenner trailer.
The truck was operated by Chase T. Atkins, 30, of Addison.
McNamara’s vehicle came to rest facing west in the eastbound lane of travel.
The truck came to rest facing west on the eastbound shoulder.
McNamara, who was wearing a seat belt, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to University of Vermont Medical Center.
Atkins, who was not wearing a seat belt, was not injured.
Snow and slippery roadways are believed to be contributing factors in the crash.
Troopers were assisted on scene by the Middlebury Police Department, Department of Motor Vehicles Law Enforcement, Middlebury Regional EMS, the Cornwall Fire Department and Midstate Towing.
