BLOOMINGDALE, NJ — A dog sitter was arrested after allegedly stealing and forging checks from a client’s home while caring for the client’s pet.
On March 20, 2026, a victim reported to police headquarters that she had discovered unauthorized withdrawals from her bank account and missing checks from her checkbook.
Sgt. Peirsel and Ptl. Dichio launched an investigation and determined the victim had previously hired Kimberly Lindsey, 41, of Ringwood, New Jersey, to care for her dog while she was away.
Lindsey had access to the victim’s residence during that time, according to police.
The investigation revealed that Lindsey removed several checks from the victim’s checkbook, forged the victim’s signature, and deposited the checks made payable to cash.
Officers gathered evidence linking Lindsey to the crime.
She was arrested and charged with forgery.
Lindsey was processed and released on a criminal summons.
She is scheduled to appear in Passaic County Superior Court at a later date.
