Two arrested after foot pursuit in Southeast

SOUTHEAST, NY — Two people were arrested following a foot pursuit at a Home Depot on March 19, 2026.

Members of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Conditions Unit responded to the store at approximately 9:16 p.m. for a report of two individuals known to have previously committed larcenies at the location.

Deputies observed the suspects exiting the store with stolen merchandise and attempted to make contact with them.

Both individuals were advised they were under arrest and fled on foot.

Following a brief foot pursuit, both suspects were taken into custody.

The individuals were found to be in possession of over $4,000 worth of stolen merchandise.

Alex Mayorga Chimbo, 35, of Queens, New York, was charged with grand larceny in the 3rd degree, criminal possession of stolen property in the 3rd degree, resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration.

He was arraigned in the Town of Southeast Court and released on his own recognizance.

A 16-year-old male juvenile was charged with petit larceny, criminal possession of stolen property in the 5th degree, conspiracy in the 5th degree, resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration.

He was released to a guardian with a juvenile appearance ticket.
