BATH, NY — A 61-year-old man was arrested on felony driving while intoxicated charges after police observed his vehicle traveling without tail lights.
Officers conducted a traffic stop at approximately 10:29 p.m. March 9 after observing a vehicle traveling eastbound on West Morris Street operating with no tail lights.
The operator was identified as William J. Hargrave, of Bath.
An investigation ensued as officers believed Hargrave was under the influence of alcohol.
Hargrave was taken into custody without incident.
He was charged with driving while intoxicated per se, driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation in the first degree, no/inadequate tail lamps and possession of an open alcoholic container.
Hargrave was previously convicted of driving while intoxicated in 2017, making this arrest a felony.
Hargrave was processed and issued uniform traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in Bath Village Court at a later date.
The Village of Bath Police Department was assisted by the New York State Police.
