Hoax 911 call prompts law enforcement response in Standish

STANDISH, ME — A fictitious 911 call reporting an active shooter at Bonny Eagle High School prompted a large law enforcement response on March 18.

Deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call at approximately 11:49 a.m. reporting an active shooter situation at the school at 700 Saco Road.

Emergency Communications Officers at the Cumberland County Regional Communications Center confirmed the call was a hoax.

Deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and numerous other law enforcement agencies from surrounding areas responded to the scene.

Out of an abundance of caution, deputies continued their response to the school and confirmed there was no active threat to students, staff or the community.

The incident remains under active investigation by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
