WESTON, CT — Police are investigating after a man attempted to lure a child into his vehicle on March 18.
The Weston Communication Center received a call at approximately 4:25 p.m. from a resident on Weston Woods Way reporting a suspicious incident.
The complainant told officers that his daughter got off the school bus at approximately 3:45 p.m. and stopped at their mailbox to check for deliveries.
While at the mailbox, a black SUV stopped and an unknown male occupant attempted to engage his daughter in conversation.
The unknown male asked his daughter if she wanted money and told her to get into the back seat of the vehicle.
The girl ran toward their residence, and the unknown male yelled for her to come back.
The vehicle was described as a black, older model Nissan Pathfinder with out-of-state license plates, possibly New York or New Jersey.
The vehicle also had an orange sticker near the right rear taillight.
The unknown male was described as a tall, white or Hispanic male with dirty blonde hair, wearing a black beanie, grey sweater with rips, black sunglasses and a silver watch on his right wrist.
Officers conducted a full canvass of the immediate and surrounding areas but were unable to locate the suspect.
A potential match of the vehicle was captured by a security camera in the neighborhood.
