Man arrested on sex charges in Middlesex

MIDDLESEX, NY — A Tennessee man faces multiple felony charges following an investigation into alleged sexual exploitation of a minor.

Tyler J. Castner, 20, of Ooltewah, Tennessee, was arrested on a Superior Court warrant after being indicted by a Yates County Grand Jury.

The Yates County Sheriff’s Office investigation revealed Castner allegedly communicated via electronic devices with a minor residing in Yates County.

During the communications, Castner allegedly enticed the minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct on multiple occasions, according to authorities.

Castner was taken into custody by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee and extradited by the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.

He was arraigned March 18 in Yates County Supreme Court on 16 felony charges.

The charges include two counts of dissemination of indecent material to a minor in the first degree, seven counts of use of a child in a sexual performance, and seven counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child.

Castner was remanded to the Yates County Jail in lieu of bail.

The New York State Police and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Division assisted in the investigation.
