NEW LONDON, CT — Police have arrested a man in connection with a carjacking that occurred at a convenience store in January.
New London Police responded to a report of a stolen occupied motor vehicle at the Gulf Station Convenience Store, located at 290 Broad Street, at approximately 1:37 a.m. on Jan. 23.
Officers made contact with the victim and learned that their running vehicle had been stolen after they entered the store, while a friend remained in the car.
Video footage from the location and surrounding area revealed a masked individual stealing the vehicle after exiting another car that had abruptly entered the gas station lot.
The passenger in the stolen vehicle was subsequently forced out at gunpoint a short distance from the Gulf Station.
Through the collaborative efforts of the Patrol Division and New London Police Detectives, investigators were able to identify the suspect using video evidence from the scene.
The identification was primarily based on the suspect’s clothing description at the time of the crime.
On March 17, New London Police arrested Immanuell Thomas-Brown, 21, of New London.
Thomas-Brown has been charged with robbery in the first degree, larceny of motor vehicle, reckless endangerment and reckless driving.
The investigation remains active.
