Doctor indicted on rape charges in Framingham

FRAMINGHAM, MA — A physician formerly practicing in Framingham has been indicted by a Middlesex County Grand Jury on three counts of rape and seventeen counts of indecent assault and battery for the alleged sexual assaults of eleven women.

Derrick Todd, 52, of Wayland, is accused of sexually assaulting eleven adult female patients between 2021 and 2023 while acting as a rheumatologist and primary care physician at Charles River Medical Associates, according to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan.

“The allegations are that the defendant in this case exploited his patients’ vulnerability and abused his position of trust as a medical professional,” Ryan said.

“No person should have to fear for their safety when seeking medical treatment.”

The patients ranged in age from 20 years old to 60 years old.

Todd is accused of conducting unnecessary and excessively prolonged pelvic and breast examinations, performing procedures for which he lacked appropriate training or certification and engaging in conduct that was outside the accepted standards of medical care.

In several instances, the alleged assaults occurred under the guise of legitimate medical treatment, including purported pelvic floor therapy, despite Todd not being qualified to perform such therapy.

Todd is expected to be arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court on March 25, 2026.

In January, Todd was also charged with two counts of rape alleging the sexual assault of two additional women who were his patients at the time of the assaults.

Those assaults are alleged to have occurred in December of 2022 and in June of 2023, during medical examinations.

The next date in that case is March 25, 2026, in Middlesex Superior Court.
