Two arrested on drug charges in East Lyme

EAST LYME, CT — Two men were arrested following a traffic stop on Chesterfield Road on March 17th, 2026, after a police K-9 detected narcotics in their vehicle.

East Lyme officers stopped the vehicle after suspecting the occupants were transporting drugs.

A narcotics detection K-9 conducted an exterior search of the vehicle and gave a positive indication for the presence of drugs.

Officers then searched the vehicle and found drugs, scales and packaging material for distribution.

During the search, one of the occupants attempted to interfere with the police K-9 but was unsuccessful.

Alex Klose, 21, of East Lyme, was charged with possession of narcotics, possession with intent to sell narcotics, operating a drug factory, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of more than 8 ounces of cannabis.

He was held on $15,000 bond.

John Poirier, 19, of Windham, was charged with interfering with a police officer.

He was held on $1,000 bond.
