SPRINGFIELD, MA — Two people were arrested and a loaded firearm was seized after police responded to a disturbance Monday night.
Officers responded to the 0-100 block of Summit Avenue at approximately 8:35 p.m. for a report of a disturbance.
Officers arrived and received information that at least one subject may be armed with a gun.
Officers were informed that some of the subjects entered a vehicle, which was located in a parking lot on the 0-100 block of Summit Street.
Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, which had three occupants.
During a search of the vehicle, officers recovered an illegal loaded firearm inside.
The driver, Damien Barreto, and front seat passenger Jormelys Guzman were placed under arrest.
The rear seat passenger will be issued a criminal complaint.
Damien Barreto, 22, of Springfield is charged with carrying a firearm without a license and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
Jormelys Guzman, 20, of Springfield is charged with carrying a firearm without a license and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
