PHILIPSTOWN, NY — A man was arrested on drunken driving charges after crashing his vehicle into a residence.
Zachary Freeman, 39, of Philipstown, was taken into custody following the March 14, 2026 incident on Route 9D, according to Sheriff Brian Hess.
Members of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at approximately 5:56 p.m. for a report of a single-vehicle crash into a residence.
Upon arrival, deputies determined that Freeman had driven off the roadway and struck the home.
Freeman was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
During the investigation, deputies determined that Freeman was operating the vehicle while intoxicated.
Two individuals were inside the home at the time of the crash.
No injuries were reported.
Freeman was charged with reckless endangerment in the first degree, a class D felony; aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor; driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor; and moved from lane unsafely, a traffic infraction.
He was arraigned in Philipstown Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
