Teen arrested in fatal crash in Glastonbury

GLASTONBURY, CT — A 17-year-old driver has been arrested in connection with a three-vehicle crash that killed a 15-year-old passenger last fall.

The crash occurred on Oct. 24, 2025, at approximately 8:53 p.m. in the area of 3066 Hebron Avenue, according to Lt. Kevin Szydlo of the Glastonbury Police Department.

Police, fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene and rendered immediate medical aid to all occupants involved.

Glastonbury Fire Department personnel extricated two individuals who sustained serious injuries.

All involved were transported to area hospitals.

The 15-year-old passenger succumbed to his injuries on Nov. 5, 2025.

The investigation, conducted by the Glastonbury Police Traffic Unit in conjunction with the Metro Traffic Services Regional Accident Reconstruction Team, determined that the 17-year-old male was operating a 2004 Nissan westbound on Hebron Avenue at a high rate of speed with the 15-year-old passenger.

The operator lost control of the vehicle, crossed into the eastbound lane and struck two oncoming vehicles.

Police obtained an arrest warrant approved by the Judicial District of Hartford charging the 17-year-old operator with manslaughter in the second degree, assault in the first degree, reckless endangerment in the first degree, three counts of reckless endangerment in the second degree, two counts of criminal mischief in the third degree, reckless driving, three counts of operating a motor vehicle to endanger occupant, violation of passenger restrictions and failure to drive right.

The operator turned himself in on Sunday and is scheduled to appear at Hartford Juvenile Court on Sunday.
