ROCKLAND, ME — A 29-year-old man was arrested after police received multiple reports of erratic driving on March 15, 2026.

Rockland Police located the vehicle at approximately 9 a.m. as it was driving into the oncoming lane attempting to pass another vehicle on a double yellow line.

Officers stopped the driver, identified as Michael Canfield of Warren.

During the investigation, police learned Canfield had allegedly attempted to run another vehicle off the roadway at random earlier in the day.

Canfield had also led area law enforcement on a short pursuit earlier this month, which at one point traveled through Rockland.

That incident is being investigated by the law enforcement agency in the jurisdiction where the pursuit started, and charges are pending.

Canfield was arrested by Rockland Police and charged with reckless conduct and driving to endanger.

He remains held at the Knox County Holding Facility.
