KORTRIGHT, NY — A man was arrested following an investigation into a child abuse referral, according to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Craig DuMond announced the arrest on March 9, 2026.
Sheriff’s deputies and Delaware County Child Protective Services received a referral regarding an alleged domestic incident involving possible child abuse on March 9, 2026.
An investigation determined that a physical domestic incident had occurred on March 8, 2026, that was never reported to police.
During that incident, multiple children in the residence were involved in a verbal and physical altercation with an adult.
Deputies arrested Brian Fenton, 42, of Kortright, for assault in the third degree, criminal obstruction of breathing and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
All charges are class A misdemeanors under the New York State Penal Law.
Fenton was turned over to the Delaware County Correctional Facility to await arraignment at CAP Court.
