BRANFORD, CT — A Hamden man faces multiple charges after police say two firearms were discovered during a struggle at a storage facility.
Branford Police officers responded to Branford Public Storage on Summit Place at 6:20 p.m. March 13, 2026 for a report of a domestic disturbance.
Officers encountered a male subject behind the building who resisted attempts to detain him, police said.
During the struggle, a firearm fell from the suspect’s person, according to police.
Officers secured the weapon and continued efforts to detain the individual.
A second firearm was discovered concealed in the suspect’s waistband during the encounter and was also secured by officers, police said.
The suspect continued to resist and attempted to move toward the firearms before officers removed him from the area and placed him under arrest, according to police.
Dominick Pearson, 35, of Hamden was charged with theft of a firearm (two counts), criminal possession of a firearm (two counts), burglary in the first degree (two counts), possession of large capacity magazines (two counts), disorderly conduct, interfering with a police officer and criminal trespass in the second degree.
Pearson also had multiple re-arrest warrants for failure to appear in court from neighboring jurisdictions and an active arrest warrant for robbery held by the City of New Haven, police said.
Pearson was held in custody pending arraignment March 16, 2026.
