DENVER BOROUGH, PA — Lancaster County Wide Communications received a hoax emergency call involving a residence on Larch Lane on Thursday at approximately 5:35 p.m.
The incident is commonly known as “swatting,” which involves an individual making a false emergency report to law enforcement to provoke a large, unnecessary police response.
The East Cocalico Township Police Department along with the Pennsylvania State Police, Ephrata and West Earl Police Departments responded to Larch Lane and the surrounding area.
After a thorough assessment by police, the situation was determined to be completely unfounded, and the threat was deemed a swatting hoax.
Law enforcement is now actively investigating the source of the malicious call.
