NEWBURY, VT — Vermont State Police arrested a man on an active warrant after finding him slumped over in a parked truck that was blocking traffic.

Troopers were patrolling Jefferson Hill Road on March 13, 2026, at 6:16 p.m. when they observed a truck parked on the side of the road and impeding traffic.

Inside the truck, troopers observed a passenger slumped over in the passenger seat.

The man was identified as Christopher Way, 33, of Canaan.

Police said Way had an active in-state warrant for his arrest on charges of lewd and lascivious conduct, simple assault, prohibited conduct – first offense – open or gross lewdness, and violation of probation.

During the investigation, Way provided false information in order to deflect the investigation, police said.

Way was taken into custody and transported to the Vermont State Police barracks for processing.

He was later transported to Northeast Correctional Complex to be held on $5,000 bail.
