LIVINGSTON, NY — New York State Police have arrested a 26-year-old man on rape charges following an investigation involving a 16-year-old victim.
Tufan Oner, of Slingerlands, was charged with first-degree rape, a class B felony, and two counts of third-degree rape, class E felonies.
The investigation by the Livingston Bureau of Criminal Investigation began on March 10, 2026, after troopers responded to a report involving the victim in the town of Ghent.
State Police located and arrested Oner in the town of Slingerlands on March 11, 2026, without incident.
Oner was arraigned in the Town of Claverack Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 17, 2026, at 3 p.m.
The Livingston Bureau of Criminal Investigation was assisted by the Troop K Computer Crime Unit, Troop G Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team, Troop G Computer Crime Unit, and the State Police New Scotland Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
