ITALY, NY — A 42-year-old man was arrested after allegedly stealing another person’s prescription medication and replacing it with over-the-counter medication.

Joseph C. Stratton, of Branchport, was taken into custody at 12:42 p.m. March 14 in the town of Italy, according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.

An investigation revealed Stratton had stolen the prescribed medication and replaced it with over-the-counter medication without the other person’s knowledge, Deputy P. Skelly said.

Stratton was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and petit larceny.

He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Town of Italy Court at a later date.
