FORT FAIRFIELD, ME — A juvenile male was arrested Friday in connection with two arson fires that occurred on Park Street earlier this week.
Investigators from the Maine Fire Marshal’s Office made the arrest at 11:30 a.m. Friday.
The juvenile was charged with arson in connection with the two fires that occurred March 10.
Working with the Juvenile Community Corrections Officer, the juvenile was placed on conditions of release and released to his guardians.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.
Fort Fairfield Fire Rescue was called to a structure fire in the area of the park and ride on Park Street at 6:15 p.m. March 10.
Responding crews determined smoke was coming from the old Public Works garage at 61 Park Street.
The Fire Marshal’s Office responded to assist with an origin and cause investigation.
With assistance from the Fort Fairfield Police Department, investigators located two individuals suspected to be involved.
Through the investigation, it was determined another fire had been set in an unoccupied home shortly before the fire at 61 Park Street.
Fort Fairfield Fire Rescue and investigators located the second scene at 9 Park Street.
Both fires were determined to be incendiary in nature and are considered arson.
Leo Rideout Jr., 19, of Fort Fairfield was arrested and charged with arson.
He was transported to the Aroostook County Jail.
