Man arrested on drug charges in Waterbury

WATERBURY, CT — A man wanted on felony charges was arrested at a local market and found with a large quantity of drugs and cash, police said.

Deon Crowder, 30, of Waterbury, was taken into custody without incident on March 5, 2026, at Wasu Market on Meriden Road.

Officers from the Waterbury Police Department Crime Prevention Unit were conducting patrol in the area of National Avenue and Meriden Road when they spotted Crowder, who had an active felony warrant.

The warrant was for engaging police in pursuit, interfering with an officer, reckless endangerment in the first degree and additional motor vehicle charges.

During the investigation, officers seized 110 Xanax bars, 744 bags of heroin, 13 grams of crack cocaine and $2,397 in U.S. currency.

Crowder was charged with operating a drug factory, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a motor vehicle without a valid license, two counts of possession of narcotics with intent to sell and possession of controlled substance with intent to sell.
