SCHODACK, NY — A 60-year-old man was arrested on felony drug charges following a traffic stop on Routes 9 and 20.
Robert Friss, of Mechanicville, was stopped by Schodack Police Department officers on March 12, 2026, for a vehicle and traffic law violation.
Officers determined Friss was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.
A K-9 unit from the East Greenbush Police Department responded to assist with the investigation.
A K-9 search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a small quantity of crack cocaine along with packaging materials.
Friss was taken into custody.
A subsequent search of his person led to the discovery of approximately one ounce of crack cocaine.
Friss was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, both class B felonies, and aggravated unlicensed operation in the first degree, an unclassified misdemeanor.
He was arraigned in Schodack Town Court on March 12, 2026, and was released on his own recognizance pending a future court appearance.
