POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A 56-year-old man was arrested at his residence on Whinfield Street following a drug investigation by the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force.

Dondi Johnson, of Poughkeepsie, was taken into custody on March 12, 2026, after agents executed a search warrant at his home.

The investigation began after complaints were received about a fentanyl and cocaine dealer operating in the area of Whinfield Street and other areas throughout Poughkeepsie.

Drug Task Force agents purchased crack cocaine from the defendant during the investigation, which was later tested and confirmed to be contaminated with fentanyl.

The search warrant was executed with assistance from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Service Unit, the Poughkeepsie Joint SWAT team, New York State Parole, Dutchess County Probation, and the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and Poughkeepsie Patrol Bureaus.

Johnson was taken into custody without incident, and agents secured additional evidence related to the sale of narcotics.

He was charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony.

Johnson was arraigned in Poughkeepsie City Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center without bail.
