Woman arrested as fugitive in Southport

SOUTHPORT, NY — A woman wanted in Pennsylvania on a retail theft charge was arrested at a residence in the Town of Southport.

Margaret A. Litts, 55, of Elmira, was taken into custody as a fugitive from justice out of Bradford County, Pennsylvania, for failing to appear on the original charge of retail theft, according to the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office.

The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office received notification from the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office that Litts had an outstanding warrant through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and requested assistance locating her.

On March 11, 2026, at about 11 a.m., the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol responded to a residence in the Town of Southport and located Litts.

Litts was subsequently arrested and processed as a fugitive from justice.

Litts was arraigned in the Town of Southport Court and remanded to the Chemung County Jail, awaiting extradition to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
