Two arrested on warrants in Woonsocket

WOONSOCKET, RI — Rhode Island State Police arrested two men on outstanding warrants following separate motor vehicle stops on Dulude Avenue.

Patrick Dailey, 59, of Woonsocket, was arrested at 11 a.m. on a Third District Court bench warrant for failure to appear for arraignment on an original charge of shoplifting from the North Smithfield Police Department.

Dailey was also charged with driving with a suspended, revoked or cancelled license, fourth or subsequent offense.

William Newell, 55, of Woonsocket, was arrested at 11 a.m. on a Kent County Superior Court full bench warrant for failure to appear for determination of attorney on an original charge of shoplifting over $100, second offense, from the Cranston Police Department.

Both men were transported to State Police Headquarters, processed and later transported to Third District Court.

In a separate incident at 8:15 p.m., troopers arrested Bruce McKenzie, 37, of Warwick, following a barracks investigation.

McKenzie was located by the Everett, Massachusetts Police Department and charged with exploitation of an elder over $500 and less than $100,000, extortion and blackmail, obtaining property by false pretenses over $5,000 and less than $10,000, and driving without consent of owner or lessee.

He was transported to State Police Headquarters, processed and held overnight pending morning arraignment.

At 10:36 p.m., troopers arrested John Darosa, 37, of Cranston, following a motor vehicle stop on Route 146 North in Lincoln.

Darosa was charged with reckless driving and other offenses against public safety, second or subsequent offense, and driving with a suspended license, fourth or subsequent offense.

He was transported to State Police Headquarters, processed and held overnight as a violator pending morning arraignment.
