Man arrested on stalking charge in Cortlandville

CORTLANDVILLE, NY — A 41-year-old man was arrested on stalking and harassment charges following a two-month investigation by the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.

Carmen A. Mauro, of Jamesville, was taken into custody at 4:11 p.m. on March 9.

Authorities said they investigated an ongoing harassment complaint in the town during February and March.

Through their investigation, officers determined that Mauro had repeatedly harassed another person known to him, according to the sheriff’s office.

Mauro was charged with fourth-degree stalking, a misdemeanor, and second-degree harassment, a violation.

He was brought to the Public Safety Building for processing.

Mauro was arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process at 8 p.m. on March 9 and released on his own recognizance.

His next court appearance is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on March 23 in Cortlandville Town Court.
