HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP, NJ — A New Brunswick man has been arrested in connection with a roadside altercation that left a victim with significant injuries last month.
Nahuan Tejada was taken into custody on March 12 in New Brunswick following a joint investigation by Hopewell Township Police Department, Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office and U.S. Marshals.
The incident occurred on Feb. 25 at 12:15 p.m. when Hopewell Township police officers responded to a 911 call on Bear Tavern Road for a reported altercation between two men.
The altercation involved use of an edged weapon, according to police.
Officers found the victim alert and responsive with significant injuries.
Officers and responding emergency medical services provided immediate care to the victim, who was transported to a local hospital.
Tejada had fled the scene and left the area, heading toward New Brunswick, police said.
Hopewell Township Police Department detectives processed the scene and began investigative efforts to locate the suspect.
Tejada was charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and assault by auto.
A warrant was issued on Feb. 25 for these charges.
Tejada was transported to Hopewell Township Police Department for processing and later transported and lodged in Mercer County Correctional Center.
The matter will be heard in Superior Court.
