Fatal fire investigated in Conquest

CONQUEST, NY — The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal house fire that occurred at 8:36 a.m. on March 10 in the Town of Conquest.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a fire started in the living room of the residence at 281 East Lake Road.

A single occupant was located in the living room area of the home.

The deceased male was later identified as Ralph “Keene” Christopher, 89, of Conquest.

At this point in the investigation, nothing appears to be suspicious.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the New York State Police, New York State Fire Cayuga County 911, Conquest Fire Department, Cato Fire Department, CIMVAC, Victory Fire Department, Port Byron Fire Department, South Butler Fire Department, Savannah Fire Department, Oswego Fire Department, Cayuga County Emergency Services, Cayuga County Coroner’s Office and the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office.
