MAMAKATING, NY — Two men died after a single-vehicle crash on Winterton Road on March 9, 2026.
New York State Troopers from State Police Wurtsboro responded to the crash near 482 Winterton Road at approximately 6:57 p.m.
A preliminary investigation determined that a 2022 Nissan was traveling northbound on Winterton Road when the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve.
The vehicle crossed into the southbound lane, exited the roadway on the western shoulder, and struck a utility pole.
Both occupants were extricated from the vehicle.
The operator was identified as Gary A. Burlew, 66, of Bloomingburg.
The passenger was identified as Jeffrey Burlew, 38, of Bloomingburg.
Both men sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The New York State Police were assisted at the scene by the Bloomingburg Fire Department and the Mamakating First Aid Squad.
The investigation into this crash remains ongoing.
