BOSTON, MA — A 17-year-old male was arrested on firearm charges Tuesday evening near the Jackson Square train station.
Members of the Youth Violence Strike Force observed the juvenile walking from the station at approximately 8:47 p.m. holding his phone in his left hand while pinning his right arm to his waist area.
Officers recognized the male from previous interactions and exited their cruiser to speak with him.
As officers approached, the suspect placed his phone in his pocket and positioned both hands in front of his waistband.
Officers stopped the suspect and conducted a pat frisk, recovering a firearm from his waistband.
The weapon was determined to be a .40 caliber Ruger with one round in the chamber and nine rounds in the magazine.
The juvenile was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court.
He faces charges of delinquent to wit; carry a firearm without a license, delinquent to wit; possession of ammunition without an LTC, and delinquent to wit; possession of a loaded firearm.
