CLARK, NJ — A township church and school were placed in lockdown Tuesday afternoon following an unsubstantiated threat posted on Facebook.
The Clark Township Police Department received a report of a Facebook post threatening St. John’s The Apostle Church/Rectory and the Catholic Archdiocese shortly after 2 p.m.
St. John’s The Apostle School/Church was immediately placed into lockdown, and patrol officers and detectives responded to the school.
Clark police officers conducted an interior and exterior search of the facility and implemented threat assessment protocols.
Students and faculty were dismissed for the day once the search was completed.
The post did not target St. John’s The Apostle School or students, according to police.
The church rectory falls under the jurisdiction of the City of Linden, and the Linden Police Department was notified and is actively investigating.
No threat to students or school facilities has been identified, police said.
The Linden Police Department is conducting an investigation into the incident.
